The key to being good parents is definitely how well you understand the needs of your children. It would take a big effort from our part as parents to fully understand the needs of our children, nevertheless once we understand their needs, our roles become a lot easier, and less-troublesome. Allowing your child to have tantrums is not a good idea, as it would involve a lot of your own feeling to deal with. Normally when your child cries, a parent would definitely feel bad as well thinking that the child is not getting what he or she really wants, and sometimes angry when you see your child making a fuss. It is not easy to deal with such situations, yet with a little bit of patience from your part, this kind of situations can be dealt with quickly, and effectively.

Children are young, and thus we as parents have to explain things carefully and patiently to them until they understand completely how the situations are. Children normally feel lost when they do not get what they want, thinking that the parents do not care or love them anymore, thus take time to reassure them patiently. Relate your own experiences to them to help them understand, and try to make these past stories as interesting as possible. Memories from your own childhood could help shape the future of your kids, and would be extremely helpful in building relationships between children and parents.
Always remember that you need the skill of listening well if you intend to be a good parent. Listening to the needs and longings of your children, and acting accordingly are key characteristics that every parent should possess, and would avoid uncomfortable situations between parents and children not only during the present times, but also in the future. Children would learn to trust their parents more as they would find them a lot more understanding, and thus we would be able to live in a more conducive and comfortable environment. Listen and offer love to your children, and watch them grow into responsible, loving adults.
