Woman will go through hormonal changes during pregnancy, this effect will make pregnant feel discomfort. Especially when the pregnant woman gets a cold or flu. Can’t denied that there are lots of drugs over the counter to cure the flu or cold but when consuming these pills one must be very careful when consuming them as the medicine will directly affects the fetus. To treat cold and flu for pregnant woman, there are several ways to treat them.
Normally pregnant will experience some light fever and nausea. To control this, make the pregnant woman drink lots of water and rest more. This is one of the many ways to control the body temperature without consuming medicine. Drinking lots of water does not only cool the body, but also get rid of the toxin in the body. It is recommended to eat more bananas, apples, rice and toast as these foods provide enough nutrition to the pregnant woman. Besides this, the recommended food will not cause pain in the stomach as they are light. If the pregnant woman is having fever, try applying a wet cloth with ice on the head to lower the body temperature.
If the pregnant woman has mucus in the nose which blocks the airway, then she must take extra care to prevent suffocation when asleep. To prevent suffocation, sleep with the head and upper body elevated. When the head and upper body elevated, the mucus will flow through the nose instead of flowing into the respiration system. Another way is to use nasal strips on the nose when sleeping. Besides this, the throat will feel irritate when having cold. Drinking a glass of warm water with a little lemon juice and a tablespoon of honey will relief the throat irritate. If the pregnant woman is having a mild cough, there is a remedy to sooth an aching throat. Brew tae with slice of ginger and 2 spoons of honey. Honey and mint lozenges controls cold and cough and peppermint soothe the throat.
It is very important to make sure anything consume by the pregnant woman doesn’t affect the fetus. If the cold or flu symptom become serious, seek professional medical advice. Make sure the supplements is safe to the fetus.
